The mission of Movement Day Greater Dallas (MDGD) is to unite the body of Christ around a common purpose in order to achieve measureable progress against the greatest spiritual, social, and humanitarian challenges facing the city. MDGD will also serve as a model and catalyst for gospel movements worldwide.
Consider these sobering statistics:
97% fatherlessness rate in South Dallas
85% non-readiness of 18-year olds for college
The highest number of refugees in the nation of any city
Sharp declines in spiritual interest among young people
Over 565 churches & agencies were connected for citywide efforts
historic racial reconciliation movement underway involving more than 50 churches
Marketplace leaders have provided monthly re-entry coaching for released prison inmates
An Emerging Leader network, INITIATIVE, was birthed and has attracted 2,000 young people ranging in age from 20–40
An “Explore God” social media campaign had 400 churches participate
Our plan is to convene and collaborate with the faith community from all quadrants of Greater Dallas. We are also partnering with The New York City Leadership Center and drawing upon the experience and intellectual capital of Dr. Mac Pier, Founder and CEO, The New York City Leadership Center and Dr. Tim Keller, Senior Pastor, Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
The strategy is to identify like-minded Dallas leaders who desire to design, mobilize and invest in a long – term strategy that will impact Dallas. The result will be the creation of specific plans to accelerate or incubate best practices to address the issues facing the city and to serve as the focus of the combined efforts of hundreds of organizations throughout Greater Dallas.
