On Tuesday June 20th we received two important announcements. One announcement came from Africa with a roster of 35 emerging cities being invited to participate in Movement Day Africa in 2018 in Nairobi. The expectation is that contextualized expressions of Movement Day across the African continent will take place in coming years.

This Fall gatherings will take place in Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, and Nairobi. The efforts are being led by Jurie Kriel of Doxa Deo and Stephen Mbogo of African Enterprise.

The second came from Australia with the announcement of Movement Day Australia May 1-2, 2018. The team is being led by Ian Shelton from Toowoomba. He skillfully led the 2017 National Gathering. Ian envisions several Australian cities multiplying Movement Day in the years ahead.

What is the significance of this? It means that God is stirring in very different places and in very different cultures. Despite the great diversity God’s church is still one church.

I wonder if our societies are as proportionally healthy as the churches of our city are united? What we can do together is exponentially greater than what we can do on our own.
